Icelandic Glacial aims to build on its heritage of sound green credentials to deliver a product to consumers with as little environmental impact as possible.
From the safeguarding of our naturally replenished spring source, to the ongoing encouragement of post consumption recycling, as one of the first CarbonNeutral® certified bottled waters in the world, we aim to continually improve our performance and stay at the forefront of sound environmental practice.

Here's a look at how we do this:
A Sustainable Source
The Ölfus Spring, which is the source of our water, is one of the largest naturally replenished resources in the world. Icelandic Glacial captures only a fraction of the total amount that is forced out under natural pressure on its way to the ocean - with no effect whatsoever on the natural balance of this resource. Leading hydrogeological consultant Zenith International has been evaluating the Ölfus Spring system since 2005. Zenith has declared that the source of Icelandic Glacial water meets all hydrological criteria for sustainability.

Natural Green Energy Usage
The Icelandic Glacial bottling plant, is powered entirely by hydro-electric power, which gives the company a solid foundation for its green credentials and a much lower CO2 emission level for production than many other bottled water brands.
100% Recyclable
Our commitment to the fight against global warming is also reflected in our packaging which is 100% recyclable. The Outer case packaging of Icelandic Glacial is made from 75% recyclable packaging and in line with our initiatives to further reduce our carbon emissions we have also achieved a 10% reduction in our PET preforms weights in 2008.
Low emission Shipping Policy
As Iceland is a net-importer of goods, Icelandic Glacial is able to utilise otherwise empty cargo slots on existing scheduled vessels leaving the country, for shipment of product to destination markets.
CarbonNeutral® Certified
The company is an active supporter of environmental issues and after working with a leading carbon consulting & offsetting business, The CarbonNeutral® company, in March 2007, Icelandic Glacial was certified as CarbonNeutral® for both its product and operations - A first within our industry!
Our commitment to Carbon Neutrality is extended throughout our organization and covers every aspect of our operations and our entire supply chain including raw materials, energy usage and distribution of our product to consumers, including all ocean shipments.
The progam developed with the CarbonNeutral® Company means that Icelandic Glacial has made a commitment to Assess our CO2 emissions and Reduce them wherever possible on an ongoing basis.
Any unavoidable remaining CO2 emissions are then Offset by investing in accredited and bonafide projects around the world that reduce our carbon emissions to a net-zero level.
Only once this full process has been carried out and a Net-zero Carbon 
footprint achieved, can a product carry the CarbonNeutral® stamp of approval.
