Green Credentials
Icelandic Glacial activates Carbon Neutral Program
The bottled water industry has been criticized in the past for draining aquifers and ground water supplies to the detriment of local communities & wildlife and is also held responsible for CO2 emissions relating to the bottling and shipping of finished products.
The Ölfus Spring which is the source of our water is one of the largest in the world and we capture only a fraction of the total amount that is forced out under natural pressure on its way to the ocean - with no effect whatsoever on the natural balance of this resource.
The Icelandic Glacial bottling plant, based in Thorlakshofn, is powered entirely on hydro-electric power, which gives the company a solid foundation for its green credentials. The company is an active supporter of environmental issues and was recently certified as a Carbon Neutral Company - A first within our industry !

Our commitment to Carbon Neutrality is extended throughout our organization and covers every aspect of our operations and our entire supply chain including ocean shipments. We continually assess our CO2 emissions and reduce them wherever possible on an ongoing basis.
Our entire remaining balance of CO2 emissions are then offset via accredited bona fide schemes in areas such as reforestation, methane capture and wind energy projects around the world.
Icelandic Glacial 'Carbon Offset' Project Portfolio:
Our commitment to the fight against global warming is also reflected in our packaging which is 100% recyclable and we are now lobbying for ongoing and effective recycling programs that follow consumption of our product.
